2026 Southern Arizona Heart Walk
People and Pulse
Last year, longtime Benson Hospital employee Gina received news that would stop most people in their tracks. After a visit to Pima Heart, she learned she would need triple bypass surgery.
True to who she is, Gina faced the diagnosis with strength, grace, and determination. She continued working right up until the date of her surgery - showing the same dedication and commitment she has always given to Benson Hospital and to everyone around her.
Her surgery was successful, and Gina approached her recovery the same way she approaches life - with focus and positivity. She was diligent with every follow-up appointment, every instruction, and every step of her healing journey. She committed herself fully to getting stronger each day.
This week, Gina celebrated an incredible milestone: she graduated from the Benson Hospital Cardiac Rehab Program right here at Benson Hospital. With hard work and perseverance, she has regained her strength and is now back at work — and back to being a fun, active mom and nana.
Gina’s attitude has never wavered. She continues to greet others with kindness, care deeply for those around her, and brings positivity to our workplace. Patients like Gina truly reflect and match our mission — resilience, compassion, and a commitment to healthier lives.
We are truly blessed to have Gina on our team.
And Gina is exactly why we walk for the American Heart Association.
