"Alma Grande" means Great Soul... there is no better way to describe the man we lost in 2022.

My father was the true glue of our family, the steady hand that kept us all together and the heart that made our house a home. He was a rare combination of brilliant and hilariously funny. To know him was to be touched by his wisdom and his laughter.

But beyond his humor and his intellect, it was his strength and courage that defined him. Watching him navigate the relentless challenges of heart failure was a masterclass in bravery. Even as he faced every hurdle with a quiet, steady courage, he stayed strong for his family until the very end. He was our hero in every sense of the word.

"Su cuerpo se cansó, pero su alma siempre será grande." (His body grew tired, but his soul will always be great.)

We are walking in this year's Heart Walk for the 4th year in a row because a heart as big and courageous as my Dad's deserves to be honored. We are turning our grief into action. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. ​
