I was raised by my grandparents, and on Christmas Eve in 2015, my grandma passed away from a heart attack at our neighborhood park. I would give anything for more time with her and the chance to get to say goodbye to her. She had the most caring heart, but unfortunately, it was her heart that failed her.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don’t survive. Most of the time, it’s because no one nearby performed CPR. But together, we can change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action. A small step. A simple skill. A lifesaving moment. Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. I'm walking in memory of my grandma and to raise awareness for heart disease. Thanks for reading my story and for supporting me!
