Nearly twenty years ago, on Thanksgiving, my husband Fred thought he had indigestion.
It was a heart attack.
Because fast-thinking clinicians acted quickly, he survived a triple bypass that gave us all these years, more joy and laughter, more ordinary beautiful days we almost didn’t get.
That moment became part of our love story.
It changed how we live, how we care for our health, and how we think about second chances.
That is my why.
Heart emergencies don’t happen “somewhere else.” They happen in homes like ours, to people we love, often without warning.
We were fortunate. Many families are not.
That’s why I’m walking and fundraising for the American Heart Association Heart & Stroke Walk. Every dollar helps support lifesaving research, prevention, education and preparedness so more people get the second chance Fred did.
I walk because survival should not be luck.
I walk because love got another chapter.
I walk because someone else’s Thanksgiving story can still have a happy ending.
Please help me reach my goal. Walk with me, support Heart Heroes, or make a gift today.
Together, we can help save lives.
With Heart,
Lisa
