In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don't survive. Most of the time, it's because no one nearby performed CPR. But together, we can change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action. A small step. A simple skill. A lifesaving moment. Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
My journey with my husband started months ago. It started with just listening to his heart beat with a stethoscope. He had an irregular heart beat . After an ekg showing normal sinus rhythm , then a f/u with his PCP to getting an echo , a TEE, then an angiogram over the course of 3- months . Results showed severe mitral valve prolapse with 70 % occlusion of his LCA. He underwent a one way bypass with open heart surgery, with mitral valve repair. He came through like a champ at 54. God is good and with a ton of prayers he is here today to enjoy his family. He was non symptomatic, and if we did not accidentally find this , his life expectancy was 3-4 years according to the surgeon. An EKG is not always enough considering his was normal. An echo is the next step to discover the functionality of your heart. Turns out there is a genetic disposition with heart issues on his biological father's side . So I had the kiddos checked as well. All good. I feel the more you know the better prepared you can be. Please help me raise awareness and save lives . I am extremely grateful to have the love of my life still by my side now and for many more years to come. God bless you all . Please feel free to join us on this walk ..... in one way or another. Many blessings and a heart felt Thank you. Xoxo
