Heart disease and stroke have impacted my family in profound ways. My father survived two strokes before ultimately losing his life to a heart attack. His journey inspired my passion for improving health care, but this year, that passion became deeply personal.
A few months ago, I experienced a life-threatening heart rhythm problem that required emergency surgery and the implantation of a pacemaker. As someone who has always prioritized fitness and healthy living, it was a powerful reminder that heart disease doesn't always come with obvious risk factors. Sometimes, our greatest risk is the one we cannot see. I was fortunate to recognize the warning signs, seek care quickly, and receive lifesaving treatment. Not everyone is that fortunate.
These experiences have strengthened my commitment to the American Heart Association and its mission to save and improve lives. Every day, heart disease and stroke change the lives of families just like mine. Yet together, we have the power to change those stories through research, education, prevention, advocacy, and by building a community of lifesavers equipped with CPR skills that can make the difference between life and death.
That is why I am honored to serve as Chair of the 2026 Greater Los Angeles Heart Walk.
I invite you to stand with me in this fight. Whether you choose to make a financial contribution, register a team, become a sponsor, or simply join us on October 3 at the Rose Bowl, your support will make a meaningful difference. Every dollar invested advances lifesaving research, helps educate communities, expands CPR training, and gives hope to millions of families facing heart disease and stroke.
This cause is personal to me, and I know it is personal to so many others. Together, we can honor those we've lost, celebrate those who have survived, and help ensure more people have the opportunity to live longer, healthier lives.
I hope you'll join me. Together, every step we take and every dollar we raise has the power to save a life.
