In 2019, I underwent surgery to replace two of the four valves in my heart that had failed due to valve disease. The leaking mitral and tricuspid valves left me short of breath, fatigued, and with mildly swollen ankles. Both were replaced with bovine (tissue) valves.
Learning that I had a serious heart condition was a shock—I felt far too young for such trouble. I know that tissue valves will eventually deteriorate, and I will likely need another operation in the future. This experience has made me a strong supporter of the American Heart Association and the research it funds.
Awareness is the first step toward prevention and treatment. I encourage you to stay informed, listen to your body, and keep up with regular medical check ups.
Please join me on this mission and walk to promote heart health and make a real impact!
