Hello, I'm My, a critical care nurse who spends my days caring for patients at their most vulnerable. Seeing people arrive desperately sick has shown me, over and over, how powerful prevention can be: small changes made early often mean the difference between recovery and a life turned upside down.
I grew up in the Central Valley, then left for 20 years to live, travel, and practice nursing in different places. Those experiences exposed me to stark health disparities and taught me that access, education, and simple preventive steps save lives. Returning home, I felt a strong responsibility to bring what I'd learned back to our community.
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in California - and the burden is even greater here in the Central Valley. That's personal to me: I see the consequences in the ICU, but I also see the opportunity to change the story through awareness, screening, and lifestyle support.
I'm walking today because prevention matters. Please join me - walk, donate, or share this message - so together we can help our families and neighbors live longer, healthier lives. Thank you.
