Ashley was my bestfriend for 34 years. She was my business partner, my soulmate, my forever plus one, the person who knew me better than anyone on this planet. She could cheer me up, boss me up, and tell me the rawest truth that I needed to hear.
On June 3, 2020, Ashley was stolen from us after suffering a massive stroke in March of that year. She had been feeling ill the week prior, sought treatment, but ultimately brushed off because of her young age of 34.
Ashley should be here with me today! 1 in 3 women will lose their lives due to heart disease and stroke. Working for the AHA and leading Go Red for Women is my way of honoring her with every waking moment.
Every dollar that we raise together for this walk will go towards the lifesaving research that helps us understand the variances in how heart diesease effects men and women differently. It will help us advocate for policies that ensure Ashley's story is not the norm, that WOMEN ARE HEARD!
Will you join me in this battle against the number one threat to our health: heart disease?
