Life is Why! The Next Generation is How!
This is a story about cousins: Mackenzie, Miles, Henry, and Van. One little girl, two baby boys, and a truly special infant who graced us with his smiles for three short weeks despite the critical congenital defects in his heart. The next generation of the Perry kids should be able to grow up together, healthy and happy, with help from the work done by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
That's my hope for the future: that research funded by AHA/ASA will help fewer families lose a little one like Henry; that AHA/ASA advocacy for early childhood care will help more kids get healthy food at daycare like my son Miles does; that all schools, like my niece Mackenzie's will participate in the Jump Rope for Heart program; and that AHA/ASA's campaigns for newborn screenings will ensure all babies get checked for congenital heart defects as closely as Henry's little brother, Van. It's a big hope, but it's possible.
Thank you for your support of this mission!
