Important update about the Heart & Stroke Walk

Due to the unprecedented circumstances and economic impact of COVID-19, the American Heart Association has had to make difficult decisions like so many others. We took a thoughtful approach using a dedicated team working over the past couple of months to plan for our new reality and strategically reimagine the organization. We knew we would need to be a smaller organization going forward.

Following a thorough review of our work in Spokane, and with the uncertainty and difficulty in special event fundraising due to the precautions we must take to not spread COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to sunset our Heart and Stroke Walk in Spokane.

For those who have started fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Walk, we truly thank you, and want you to be assured that the donations will still be used for the very same purpose you intended - funding our life-saving mission and efforts to create healthier communities. We will continue to share our consumer health messaging in the greater Spokane community through social media and public service announcements. Our hospital quality work, CPR education and training, our advocacy for policies that promote health, and our work in local schools will also continue.

Over the past several years, the Spokane Heart and Stroke Walk has raised awareness and life-saving funds, and we are so grateful for your support and volunteer efforts. We sincerely hope that you wish to remain involved with American Heart Association. Please visit heart.org/volunteer to explore options, including participating in our You’re the Cure grassroots advocacy network, becoming a social media volunteer, hosting your own fundraiser, and more.

In addition, we'd like to invite you to participate in the virtual Puget Sound Heart and Stroke Walk. It will be held online on Saturday, Oct. 10. Please visit our event website for more information.

Lastly, we want to thank our generous sponsors. Their leadership bringing the Heart & Stroke Walk to life in Spokane has been tremendous and we are so grateful for their support.

If you have any questions or would like additional information about any of our on-going activities, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you again for all you have done in support of the American Heart Association. Together we are saving lives.
