I walk because I know that with every step, we are helping to save lives.
Heart disease and stroke touch all of us in some way. For me, this cause has become deeply personal over the years.
My journey with the American Heart Association began about 15 years ago with my dear friend and colleague, Anita Spinkles. Together with many of our amazing colleagues, we formed a SF Giants walk team to honor our colleague Raul, who was experiencing his own heart issues.
But my connection to heart disease began even earlier. In 2000, my father suffered a severe heart attack and underwent quadruple bypass surgery. Years later, my boss and friend, Russ, underwent a quintuple bypass. These experiences brought home just how suddenly heart disease can affect the people we love.
Over the years, there have been even more reasons to walk. Each year, I am honored to walk alongside Russ and our colleagues, remembering our dear friend Orlando Cepeda and supporting and honoring our co-worker Paul Hodges.
Every name represents someone special. Every story is a reminder of why this work matters. And every step we take is a step toward longer, healthier lives for the people we love.
That's why the American Heart Association is so near and dear to my heart. I'm asking you to join me in supporting this incredible organization. Your donation, no matter the amount, helps fund groundbreaking research, lifesaving education and resources that literally keep hearts beating.
Together, we can make a difference—one donation, one person and one step at a time.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support. â¤ï¸
