2026 Sacramento Heart & Stroke Walk
Staszak & Co. Has Heart!
Each year, we come together in honor of our dear friend Brian Winger – lost too soon to a heart attack – and to support the American Heart Association. What began as a tribute to Brian has become something even more meaningful: helping families hold onto precious time together.
For my family, this mission is everything. And I am here today because of it.
On December 27, 2024, during what was meant to be a joyful day sledding with my family, I suffered sudden cardiac arrest and died.
In that moment, strangers became lifesavers. A bystander called 911. A doctor began CPR. An EMT and others stepped in without hesitation. For 20 minutes, five people fought for my life – delivering CPR and six AED shocks until my heart started again.
Because of them, I came home.
I came home to more mornings, more laughter, more time with the people I love the most. And that is a gift I will never take for granted.
I don’t see that day as luck. I see it as a direct result of the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association – training everyday people to act in extraordinary moments.
My story is still the exception. Nine out of ten cardiac arrests outside of a hospital are fatal. But together, we can help change that.
Please join me in creating more second chances by joining our team and making a meaningful gift.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of something truly special.
