While raising money for an important cause is not easy, I support the American Heart Association as this is a cause that especially near and dear to my own heart. Both of my parents have been affected by heart conditions. My father was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart beat that is taxing on both the body and the heart. My mother contracted rheumatic fever as a little girl and was later diagnosed with Rheumatic heart disease, a condition in which the heart valves have been permanently damaged, affecting overall energy and the ability to exercise without putting added stress on the heart.
