Two years ago, my mother suffered a debilitating stroke. One afternoon she was fine, hiking with family and enjoying life...getting ready to turn 59. That evening I rushed her to the ER after complaining of severe head pain and within 20 minutes after arrival she had suffered a seizure and was unconscious. Doctors discovered a ruptured aneurism. Two brain surgeries, weeks in a coma, months in the ICU, and three hospitals later she began her recovery. After two years she has regained much of her motor skills, but unfortunately has severe cognitive functional loss. Her and my father are an inspiration to our family. They are my WHY!
