❤My WHY is my late husband Darrell, who had a hemorrhagic stroke from unmanaged hypertension on March 1, 2017. His 39th birthday was the next day. Our then two-year-old son had just started preschool the day before, and we were planning to celebrate everyone’s accomplishments.
❤Instead, the earth fell from under our little family and we spent days in the hospital hoping that daddy's eyes would open. Although I work in a hospital, being a patient is extremely different. I read every peer-reviewed journal article I could; trying to grasp some sort of control within an uncontrollable situation. By the end of the month, we had the funeral for my husband, and we had to say our last goodbye.
❤Hypertension is quite a serious disease that is manageable with proper diet and preventative medicine. Therefore, for this year and years thereafter, I walk in my husband’s memory and I walk for my son’s future.
