In June of 2018, heart disease took an amazing soul from this earth after 2 months of battling complications from open heart surgery. In a fast turn of events, I cancelled international trips, found a contract job in Los Angeles, moved back in to my childhood home and became a caregiver for him together with my mom. As a healthcare provider, I provide caregiving, support, & training to my patients and family/caregivers, but that didn't quite prepare me for the challenge ahead of now being a caregiver for my own dad. Despite this major loss, it has motivated me even more to continue learning and educating my patients everyday in hopes of making a difference and creating change.
As a physical therapist, I see the daily impact that heart disease and stroke has on an individual and their family. I strive to give my patients my all, everyday at work, to help them regain their independence amidst such life altering events. It is unfortunate that heart disease is the #1 cause and stroke #5 cause of death in the United States.
We ALL can continue to help make a difference for someone else and their loved ones.
