I became involved with the American Heart/Stroke Association to give back to individuals who have suffered a stroke. As some of you know, when I was a kid my grandmother suffered a stroke which left her paralyzed. For the next 20 years, my family and I cared for her in order to keep her out of a nursing home. We achieved that goal, but there are so many things I wish for...I wish that my family had known about her rehabilitation potential...I wish I had been a better caregiver & advocate...I wish I knew then what I know now about rehabilitation...I wish I had found a way for my grandmother to walk again...I wish that families didn't go through what my family did...I wish for a cure.
My wishes are possible with the generous support of donations to the American Heart/Stroke Association.
