Heart disease has impacted me and my family. My mom, now 85 years old, had emergency triple bypass surgery when she was only 50 - very young for a female. Fortunately, surgical and rehabilitation procedures that had been advanced through research helped to save her life. I, myself, experienced some unusual wrist and elbow pain while jogging several years ago. Despite being a lifelong exerciser, a series of tests indicated nearly 100% blockage in one of my coronary arteries. A stent was inserted, and that simple procedure, along with proper use of medications, a healthy diet, and continued exercise have kept me symptom free ever since. We can continue to advance medical and technological research, effective treatments, and ample health education by supporting the American Heart Association (AHA) so others can live longer and healthier lives such as my mom and me. This is why I am an Executive with Health champion, and I invite you to join me in this worthwhile endeavor to raise funds for AHA to help save lives.
