Saving and improving lives can be as simple as taking a walk. And I know I'm making a difference in the lives of others by participating in the Heart Walk.
But it's not just my efforts alone that will one day help us see a world free of heart disease and stroke. I am walking with a team of heart heroes because together, we will have an even greater impact. And you can help us change the world, one step at a time, by donating to my fundraiser.
I'm fortunate to work for a company that believes in helping others, giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and making stewardship a priority. As the lead of our Seattle Community Impact team, each year around this time I reach out to family, friends, and colleagues to raise funds for an organization that is special to the hearts of our team members. Mortenson has teamed with the American Heart Association to raise critical funds to help save and improve lives impacted by heart disease. Unfortunately many of us have had friends and family effected by heart disease and approximately every 40 seconds, someone in the US will have a myocardial infarction. The AHA is helping to ensure cardiovascular patients receive the highest level of car, teach the importance leaving a healthy, active life and train our community in the life saving skills of CPR.
Personally, this organization is near and dear to my heart as my family has endured several heart and stroke events. My aunt has survived two heart attacks, my uncle a cardiac event and heart surgery, and my mother in law had a stroke. In each of these personal cases, thanks to the knowledge and research available, everyone is alive and well! The work the AHA is doing is miraculous and with our dollars, they can continue this work!
