It has been 15 years since I survived a v-fib cardiac arrest while out on an early morning jog with my wife, Sarah, and my then 1 yo son in his stroller, Lucas. My wife’s life-saving CPR, four shocks from a fast-arriving Medic One, and a series of fortunate events lead to my survival after at least 10 minutes without a pulse. I have a defibrillator implanted that will go off if my heart ever stops beating again, and hope that it will keep me around if I need it. No specific cause was ever found. Every day is a gift to me and I live my life with more purpose and meaning to make a positive impact on those around me.
This year I am the executive champion for Optum WA in our efforts to support the American Heart Association at the HeartWalk and the work that they do to save other families as well. Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that keeps hearts beating and helps people enjoy longer, healthier lives. You never know, it might be you that gets saved.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
