Oakle’s Journey
Oakle’s life was tipped upside down in May 2022. A short amount of time before Mother’s Day she complained of a stomach ache on and off. On Mother’s Day we took her to the ER to have her checked out and to get some fluids since she wasn’t drinking much water. Later that night we were transferred to Phoenix Children’s Hospital where she was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy. After only a few days of trying different options they decided placing her on the heart transplant list was her best option. One week after being in the hospital she was placed on the transplant list and the next day Oakle was heading to the OR to have a Berlin heart placed to give her heart time to rest while she waited for her new heart. After a series of events her procedure was delayed that morning which ended up being a blessing in disguise because they found a match for a new heart. Later that night she went back to the OR to receive her miracle heart. Her recovery has been just as miraculous as well. She is one tough, strong cookie.
