This will be my first year participating in the heart walk! In February of this year my high school offered EKG testing. My mom signed me up and after getting my test done it was detected that I had an irregular heartbeat. I was scheduled to get an echocardiogram done after they had found my irregular heartbeat. The echocardiogram found that I had an enlarged heart, to follow up I was scheduled to meet with a cardiologist. The cardiologist found that I had an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). Which meant there was a hole in my heart, and my hole was the size of a quarter!
On April 14th I had open heart surgery to repair the hole in my heart.
I am now almost 5 months post operation! I am doing amazing and my heart has shrunk back down to it's normal size!
