As a child, I watched my Grandfather recover from open heart surgery where he received a mechanical heart valve. My Grandmother, who needed a similar surgery, struggled to cope with his recovery letting her fear get the best of her and ultimately decided against having the surgery herself. For over a decade, I witnessed her health slowly decline while enduring so much pain before she passed away in 2021. My reason for fundraising is to hopefully help advance the technology and research, making more complex surgeries less invasive to encourage and improve quality of life for those in need of help.
