My big brother, Eric, passed away from sudden cardiac arrest due to a rare heart arrhythmia called LongQT. A simple ECG could have saved his life, but no one ever thought to check a healthy man's heart. I walk and support the American Heart Association to help spread awareness and save families from what my family had to endure--the loss of a wonderful man, brother, son, grandson, uncle, and friend.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this. ​
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. ​
