Hi, I?m Diane ? Heart Walk Team Member & Survivor
I?m a heart attack survivor, and I know firsthand how quickly life can change. When I first started having symptoms, I was told it was ?just anxiety.? But deep down, I knew something wasn?t right. It turned out I had experienced a non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Like so many women, my symptoms didn?t match the classic heart attack signs ? and because of that, they were dismissed.
I?m proud and incredibly grateful to have made it through such a dark and scary time. Now, I?m doing everything I can to spread awareness and help others feel seen, heard, and taken seriously. There needs to be more testing, better awareness, and more education around how heart disease shows up in women.
It?s not okay to be ignored or misdiagnosed. I believe in being your own advocate, trusting your instincts, and paying it forward by sharing what you?ve learned ? because our stories can save lives.
This year, I?ll be walking in the Las Vegas Heart Walk at the Ballpark on 10/18 ? and I?ll be sharing my story at the event (you might even see me on the JumboTron!). I?d love for you to join my team for a day of hope, heart, and healing.
