In April 2024, my bestestest friend in the entire world, Amber, suffered a severe stroke. Amber survived her stroke, but it has her with very limited mobility on her left side and very difficult cognitive issues. She is permanently disabled, and no longer able to provide financial support for her family. Amber was just 40 years old when she suffered her stroke, and it is with the love and support of her husband and family that she is even with us still today.
She is still my most cherished friend, who still lights up my world when I get to spend time with her. Her joy and clever wit has never left her despite the damage the stroke did to her brain.
I walk in her honor, and raise funds for the American Heart Association to support vital research for prevention and treatment of strokes.
