My Mom is Why! Life is Why!
I hope this email finds you and your loved ones doing well during these times. My plans to complete a 50K for $50K last year were thwarted in so many ways (we were evacuated due to the CZU Lightning Fire and that fire burned the Skyline to Sea Trail, I got shingles and my dad passed away). Glad 2020 is over……
As you likely know by now, each year, I raise money for the American Heart Association (AHA) in loving memory of my mom, who passed away almost 7 years ago from complications from a stroke. This year, it feels more important than ever. In 2020, the AHA was able to redirect funds to focus on understanding Covid19 complications and helping with relief efforts, especially in communities that needed it the most. Health disparities have always been an issue, but COVID-19 has brought them to the forefront.
The AHA believes that every person deserves the opportunity for a full, healthy life and they have set a bold goal: As champions for health equity, by 2024, the American Heart Association will advance cardiovascular health for all, including identifying and removing barriers to health care access and quality.
I am proud to once again be Co-Chairing the Executives with Heart Challenge to support this urgent work and this year I’ve decided to go big! I’ve set a goal to personally raise $110,001. I humbly ask for your support in reaching this live saving goal. I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t think the AHA will continue to play a critical role in the COVID-19 relief efforts as well continue to work to give a voice to the voiceless in health equity.
You can support my efforts by making a tax-deductible at http://www2.heart.org/goto/bkinion where you can make a secure online credit card donation.
Thank you for your consideration. Stay safe and healthy. BK
