My fur son Bruno and I are walking in honor of Rob Saunders in support of the American Heart Association. I have participated in previous Seattle Heart Walks, but this year the cause is profoundly closer to my heart. Just one year ago my best friend, Robby, of 20 years passed away from a stroke. He was one month away from his 40th birthday.
More than just heart health awareness, it's important to recognize disparaged groups that are at higher risk. Black young adults are almost four times more likely than their white counterparts to have a stroke. Early-onset stroke risk can start to increase around age 40 with a high rate of 50-80%.
Robby had the biggest heart of all. Come walk with us or donate if you can.
