The Heart Walk is a time of celebration, joy, and inspiration! Our Seattle Children's team is walking this year in celebration of the lives of all our our patients, but in particular, we will be there to support and celebrate Mili. Mili is a 14-year-old congenital heart disease survivor who is a patient of the Seattle Children's Heart Center, and was awarded the American Heart Association’s 2024 Puget Sound Teen of Impact Award!
Mili was born with Tetralogy of Fallot and has had 2 open heart surgeries as well as a cath procedure. Though she anticipates additional procedures in the future, Mili is able to lead the life of a pretty normal teenager and swims comptatively on her high school swim team!
This is why we all do what we do; to give children like Mili, in the Pacific Northwest (and beyond!), a fair shot at living long, healthy lives. Our work enables them to dream big, participate in the activities they love, and grow up with the opportunities that their peers without cardiac diseases have.
This year, as the American Heart Association celebrates its Centennial, we hope you will join us with Bold Hearts, focused on the work still left to do, while celebrating the lifesaving history with survivors, like Mili!
