Tony Yerry is our Why!
On July 1st, 2017 Tony Yerry was out doing one of his favorite things, hiking. He and his best friend Brian had set out that day to hike and camp on Marmot Pass. After setting up camp, they were making their way to the Summit of Marmott pass when Tony unexpectedly collapsed and suffered a heart attack. Tony, only 28 years old tragically did not survive the heart attack he suffered. We later found he had an underlying heart condition, Hypertrophic and Dilated cardiomyopathy, that caused his heart to have the cardiac arrhythmia that lead to his passing.
The loss of Tony impacted many of us. Tony was a partner, a friend, son, brother, coworker and many other siginicant roles in our lives. It's been over 7 years since we lost Tony and his impact is still felt and always will be by those that had the opportunity to meet him and even those who were unable to.
There will never be enough money to bring back Tony, however we know that if we can impact and help one person not lose their loved one based on the programs, education and mission of the AHA, that is enough for me.
Although Tony only had 28 short years with us, he was a true example of someone who lived with an uncommon authenticity and kindheartedness.
