I am beyond excited about joining Team Heart & Stroke for the upcoming NYC Marathon. As a passionate runner and someone deeply committed to raising awareness for heart and stroke-related issues, I couldn't think of a better way to make a difference.
Let me share a bit about why this foundation and cause hits so close to home for me. In March 2023, my father (who is my best friend and favorite person on this planet) experienced a stroke while he and my mother were driving from St. Augustine, FL. to visit my aunt in Ft. Myers, FL. It was a terrifying moment – my mother noticed he couldn't speak, and she immediately sprung into action, steering them off the highway to the nearest exit with a “H” symbol, which happened to be AdventHealth in Daytona Beach.
The care and expertise my father received at AdventHealth were nothing short of miraculous. The doctors discovered that he had a 95% blocked carotid artery, a condition that could have been fatal if not treated promptly. Thanks to their swift intervention and the incredible support of AdventHealth, my father's life was saved and he has minimal post-stroke symptoms.
Learning about the remarkable achievements of AdventHealth Daytona, including earning The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center certification, has only deepened my admiration for their dedication to excellence in healthcare.
Participating in the NYC Marathon with Team Heart & Stroke will not only be a personal challenge for me but also a chance to pay it forward and raise awareness for a cause that has touched my family so profoundly. I am ready to put in the miles, both on the pavement and in fundraising efforts, to support this vital mission and I need your help!
I truly believe that by joining forces with Team Heart & Stroke, I will make a meaningful impact in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Thank you for supporting American Heart Association and me. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
