I’m running the NYC Marathon because my legs carry the memory of the two people who taught me how to love loudly and live fully.
In 2023, I ran to grieve my dad — turning the rawness of losing him into forward motion. Less than a year later, my brother Danny collapsed while out on a run. Thanks to immediate CPR, we got precious extra time with him, but we ultimately lost him on April 11, 2024. Danny was a teacher, father, husband, reader, and my running buddy on every Pond Meadow Loop, Turkey Trot, and Falmouth Road Race. I carry his voice, his love, and his endless encouragement on every mile.
Running has become my way to grieve and to keep them close. On lonely miles, I talk to them. On hard miles, I feel them pushing me. I carry Danny with me every step of the way with his final heartbeat on my wrist.
Why the American Heart Association
If you know me, you know part of my story. What you might not know is that when Seth and I first started dating, I went to a cardiologist to make sure everything was healthy — and in a strange twist of fate, we realized we were seeing the same doctor.
And that brings me to now.
This Wednesday, Seth will undergo open-heart surgery to repair a congenital heart defect. It’s frightening, but thanks to the incredible medical teams at Anschutz — and the research and standards advanced by the American Heart Association — we know he’s in the best possible hands.
Where YOU come in
This November, I’ll be running the NYC Marathon for the American Heart Association — in honor of my dad, my brother Danny, and in support of the lifesaving work that helps families get more tomorrows.
Your donation, of any amount, truly makes a difference.
This marathon is my offering — of love, of grief, of gratitude, and of stubborn hope.
Every step is for my dad, for my brother, and for Seth’s strong, healing heart.
Thank you for supporting my 2026 NYC Marathon run and the American Heart Association.
