This November, I will be running in the Philadelphia Marathon as part of Team American Heart Association. This will be my second marathon, my first time running for a charity, and my first time visiting Philadelphia. However, this race means more to me than just crossing the finish line.
I will be running in honor of my girlfriend's father, who passed away from a heart condition when she was younger. Heart health awareness and early detection are important. As a black male, I have seen that going to the doctor and preventative health care, carries a negative stigma in our community. Too often, conditions go undetected until it's too late. I hope this journey helps bring awareness to the importance of regular check ups, heart health, and early detection.
I have committed to raising $1,500 for the American Heart Association, and any donation or support would mean a lot to me. Thank you for supporting American Heart Association. Your contribution is greatly appreciated. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
