I’m excited to again be participating in the best day of the year, the NYC Marathon. This year, I am running with the American Heart Association, an organization which seeks to advance cardiovascular health for all by identifying and removing barriers to healthcare access and quality.
The fight against heart disease is a particularly meaningful cause to my family and part of what inspired me to become a runner. I never had the chance to meet either of my grandfathers, each of whom were lost to heart failure before I was born. When I was 10 years old, my father suffered a heart attack. Thanks to advances in medicine and excellent care since that time, my father is still here and has had the opportunity to meet his first grandchildren.
Others have not been as fortunate as my father. According to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. I’d be honored if you could help support Team Heart and Stroke to raise awareness and support this life saving cause.
Much love,
David/DaCo
