Hello! Welcome to my Lawyers Have a Heart Race Page!
Maybe you're here to have a laugh at the fact that cold, heartless lawyers have to inform others that they "Have a Heart"! Maybe you're here to gripe at me because you think I am copping out of running a half marathon this year and opting to run a 10k--a mere 6.2 miles--instead! Maybe you're here to help me incorporate more exercise into my weekly routine (which has fallen off dramatically since starting my new job).
Or, more seriously, maybe you're here because your life has been touched in some way by heart disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, and it contributes to 1 in 4 deaths annually. Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a heart attack. If your life has been impacted by this terrible diseases, I'm sorry to say that you're in the majority and I am with you. My family lost my grandpa to a series of heart attacks when I was very little, and the genetic odds indicate that I'm a strong candidate for heart disease if I don't take care of myself. (Glad I chose a whimsical and fancy-free career path!)
Whatever your other reasons, most importantly, you're here to donate and help the American Heart Association! The recommended (and minimum) donation is $25. As you can see, my personal fundraising goal for this run is $150, but by no means is that a cap! In effort to put my money where my mouth is, I will personally match the donations to this page up to that amount--if y'all give $150, I'm also paying $150.
Thank you for supporting the American Heart Association. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
