Hi! I'm Taylor and I will be running the 2025 Chicago Marathon with the American Heart Association.
Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the United States and across the world. Many people and families everywhere have been affected by heart disease and mine is no exception. In 2005, my father suffered a heart attack at 45 years old and was then diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He lived with just a defibrillator and pace maker for 10 years when he received a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) in 2015 and he was then placed on the transplant list. After a year of being at the top of the list and countless trips down to Yale New Haven Hospital, he finally received a new heart in January of 2018. After 7 years of living with a new heart, my father's life has improved drastically by things as small as being able to walk a mile in our neighborhood.
When I started running in 2023, it was originally with the plan to improve my cardiovascular health and see how far I can push myself. When looking to participate with a team in my first marathon, AHA was the first organization I thought of, especially after all they have done to support research and raise awareness in heart health. As a result of the AHA's efforts to support technological advances in cardiovascular medicine, I will be able to enjoy running my first marathon with my Dad cheering me on from the sidelines.
I cannot wait to run Chicago 2025 with an organization that means so much to me and my family and contributes so much to its local communities.
Thank you in advance for your contribution and supporting the American Heart Association. Any contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference and is greatly appreciated.
