I’m running the Chicago Marathon with the American Heart Association because their mission has been a part of my life and impacted me at an early age in elementary school. I still remember participating in the Kids Heart Challenge—learning about heart health and the importance of staying active through fun, jump rope challenges, and school-based events. That experience planted the seed for remembering how important it is to keep your heart heathy.
With my sister, Becca, having heart surgery it was an emphasis to keeping a healthy lifestyle and being aware of your body.
Now, as an adult, running has become my personal way to keep my heart strong and healthy. It’s more than just exercise—it’s a continuation of a journey that started years ago. Partnering with the American Heart Association feels like coming full circle. Their work—from promoting healthy habits in schools to advocating for policies that improve access to care and reduce tobacco use in communities like mine in Massachusetts—deeply aligns with my values.
This marathon is more than a race for me. It’s a way to give back, honor those affected by heart disease, and support an organization that’s making real change. I’m proud to run with heart—and for heart.
