Welcome! Thanks for coming to my page! I am ECSTATIC to be running in the Chicago Marathon, October 13, 2019! I had originally signed up for the marathon lottery, and unfortunately (fortunately!) didn’t get picked. Then, because I was determined to run this race (hello, bucket list!) I looked into my other options. I came across charity affiliations for a spot in the Chicago Marathon. As I went through several deserving and meaningful charities, I came across one near and dear to my heart, the American Heart Association (I’m so punny!)
October 11, 2009 my grandma (Donna Jean Spade) died from congestive heart failure. My grandma lived a great life and was one of my favorite people in the entire world. I think about her often and how to make her proud. She valued education (I earned my master's degree), had a big heart for animals (have you seen our zoo?! haha), and was a stickler for following through with a commitment (and hence, I am committing to running 26.2 miles).
So, as this October will be 10 years since my grandma passed away, from heart failure, I thought it perfect to complete this race in her memory (and honor)!
You have several options for donating! You can donate any amount, of your choice! A little bit goes a long way. As an added bonus if you donate $50.00 or more, you can sponsor one of my 26 miles (and it can be in honor/memory of anyone you choose)! You can have the mile of your choice and I will make a special "dedication" for you, at that mile, in Chicago!
I hope that you will find it in your heart to sponsor me and run the 26.2 miles, vicariously through me :) Unfortunately, we all know someone affected by a heart disease of some sort, and the donated funds will go directly into helping research, finding cures, and educating people on the importance of heart health.
Below you will find each mile that is awaiting sponsorship (for just $50!)! Let me know, via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) which mile you'd like to sponsor!
