Like many, heart related issues have impacted my family, friends and community. Hypertension, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity are examples of these challenges. However, a Change has come. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in 2016 and was placed on medication. On December 28, 2018, my doctor released me from taking medication due to better eating habits, weight loss, and exercise. It was one of the Best days of my life.
He suggested my long-term (Life-time) goal should be to live a Healthy lifestyle and I should set short-term goals (1 to 3 years) to remain focus and consistent. On last year after conversing with a relative, I set my first short-term goal of completing my first marathon (Chicago Marathon - October 13, 2019). Join me in achieving my first short term goal by contributing to the American Heart Association to support my efforts.
