My "why" has always been, and will always be, my wife Stephanie. Stephanie has been through 4 open heart surgeries since 2014, including 3 valve replacements and 1 valve repair. Over the last several years, our struggle has been life altering and at times very difficult. What has never alterred is Steph's Courage, Compassion, and ability to endure. I set off on this mission for a marathon to honor those traits in my wife, but enduring and raising some money for a cause that is important to us. We very much believe in Heart health research. Patient advocacy and education has also been crucial in our jouney and something the AHA is supports greatly.
After I started Fundraising, my "why" changed a little. I was reminded that our journey has not been alone. We are surronded by a group of people who support us, care for us, and will always have our back. After announcing fundraising, I've been amazed at the converstaions I've had with other people about their own heart struggles or their loved ones. The outpouring of support from around the country has been amazing. I want to also run for the group of people who picked us in our darketst moments. HOpefully raising money for AHA helps other people the way we've been helped by so many.
Love,
Tim and Steph
