Hi Everyone!
My name is Sheila Rae Collins and I am proud to say that I will be running the 2023 Chicago Marathon. This will be my first major, and I am so excited to be running in support of the American Heart Association.
On July 31, 2022 I woke up and became a widow at 33. My husband, in his sleep, lost the battle to a heart disease that he didn't even know he had been fighting for years. The feeling of being denied the chance to say goodbye to him because it was sudden and unexpected is something I would never want anyone to have to feel or go through. I know I am not the only one that has lost someone to this "silent killer", and I've learned it happens more often than we think- so needless to say I advocate for the work, the research, the time, and the efforts of the AHA.
If I have the ability to run on behalf of the AHA to honor those we have lost to heart disease- SIGN ME UP!
If I have the ability to fundraise and contribute to a cause that promotes and raises awareness in hopes that we might all take action in preventing an unexpected loss of a loved one because of cardiovascular issues- I'M HERE FOR IT!
THANK YOU for taking the time to read this. All donations will go to the American Heart Association. Your support is greatly appreciated- let's cross that finish line TOGETHER!
