Hello, my name is April Bodre and I will be running in the 2024 Chicago Marathon this October!! I will be running for the American Heart Association and raising money in the next few months leading up to the big day. I chose this organization for my dad. For those of you that do not know, my father under went open heart surgery in 2021. He needed his aortic valve replaced and ended up needing a double bypass during the surgery. My father is 82 years old and one of the strongest people I know. He recovered from that surgery and is stronger than ever. My dad is my true hero.

Approximately 1.5 million heart attacks and strokes occur every year in the United States. More than 800,000 people in the United States die from cardiovascular disease each year—that's 1 in every 3 deaths, and about 160,000 of them occur in people under age 65.
