It is with amazing pride that I am running the 2025 Chicago Marathon! I am running for the American Heart Association this year. For those who do not know, four years ago I was diagnosed with a rare arrhythmia called atypical-AVNRT. I visited several doctors who did not take my concern seriously until I met Dr. Wernick, who monitored me for two weeks and suggested an ablation once he saw the charts. I was, of course, thrown off, but knew that it was in my best interest to have the procedure done to continue living a long and healthy life.
The operation is absolutely jarring, basically recreating the arrhythmia while you lie awake on a table. I'll spare the rest of the details, but the procedure was done and I was good as new. Like that. In and out in 3 hours.
Doc told me this happens to such a small percentage of the population. Of those with AVNRT, only 2% have the atypical variety. He says I was an answer on one of his tests in med school, but that's it. I am very thankful for Dr. Wernick and his persistence on getting me the help I needed.
I am extremely passionate about helping others get the help they need, and that's why it was a no-brainer to partner with the AHA for my charity of choice. Chances are, heart disease has impacted most families in the world, and contributing to the cause that could help be the saving grace to any one of those families is a venture worth pursuing. I appreciate any and all donations to my page, small and large, and would love to hear from you personally if you have a story to share yourself. Thank you!
