In the summer of 2023, I had one of the most severe types of heart attacks that a person can have, and I was only 46. As I started my recovery, I began running to build strength again in my heart. I found an amazing running group at my local running store, Dick Pond's, in downtown St. Charles, and that fall I ran my first 5k. In the process of healing my heart, I learned that I loved to run.
That winter and spring, I kept running 5- and 10k races, trained and then ran my first half marathon in May, in Maryland with my good friends Lynn and Chris. I ran the Fox Valley 20-miler later that summer (with mom and Amaris to cheer me on), and then the Bay Bridge 10k in November. My upcoming races include the Shamrock Shuffle, and two more half marathons, one in April, and one in June.
This fall, I will be running the Chicago Marathon in order to raise money for the American Heart Association. Any donation you are able to make would be so appreciated. I am grateful for the support of all my friends and family. Thank you!
