My family and I will be participating in the "virtual" Heart Run event on April 18 to raise awareness of heart disease and round up donations for the American Heart Association. Last year I walked the 5K course with my cardiac rehab cohort six weeks after having a heart attack. I found it quite difficult to finish walking a full 5K, but was uplifted at the finish line to find my own cheering section wearing custom “Run for Joe” patches and face paints and making lots of noise.
With much support from the cardiac rehab nurses, the Alaska Heart Institute medical staff, and my family, I have made a made a full recovery and will be running with the Beat Keepers team, made us of current and graduated cardiac rehabilitation patient/athletes from the program that I attended last year.
Please consider giving a small contribution to the American Heart Association to support their mission to build healthier lives, and free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.Thank you,
