When I was a baby and my Papa was only in his 40s he had open heart surgery following a heart attack he had while walking me around his yard. His doctors told him that if he didn't take better care of his heart he would not be around to see me grow up. This must have struck a nerve with him because not only did he see me grow up but he was around to meet my first child as well. Heart disease runs in our family and we are all making healthy changes to try to keep ours sound and minimize the risk factors that we can control.
