My purpose for this ride is to honor my grandson Jackson, my father, mother and other family who have been effected by heart disease. Jackson's story: Even before he was born we knew he had a heart defect. At 1 years old I watch as his Mom and Dad (my son) carry him into the operating room for open heart surgery never knowing if they would see him alive again. I cannot imagine the emotions that were going through them. Today he is a bustling, energetic little boy. He still may face another surgery in the future but for now the only signs that anyone would know of that day is a faded scar on his check. To me that is his badge of honor.
