I'm joining millions of others to help save lives with the American Heart Association!
I was born in July 2013, and at 10 days old it was discovered that I had a very special (and very rare) heart that was going to require lots of repairs through multiple surgeries. My first open heart surgery was at 12 days old; my second was at 8 weeks old; and my third was at 11 months old. I see my cardiologist regularly, but thanks to medical advances I'm able to live a perfectly normal 1st-grade life!
At school, we're learning how we can make a difference by raising lifesaving donations to help kids like me who have heart disease. We're also learning about our own hearts and how to keep them healthy. Simple things like exercising regularly, drinking plenty of water, and eating fresh fruits and veggies are very important!
I'm so excited to help raise money to fund research for new medicines and treatments that can save the lives of kids with special hearts. I've personally seen the difference this research makes. Please consider supporting me in my goal of helping Mathews Elementary raise $5,000 for this amazing cause. I'd love to stand beside you as a Heart Hero!
