Washington Elementary is Changing & Saving Lives!
At Washington, we believe that educating the whole child includes helping students understand the importance of giving back and supporting others. Participating in
community service teaches empathy, purpose, and the understanding that even small actions can make a big difference.
This year marks 28 years of Washington supporting the American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge. Over that time, our school community has raised more than $375,000 to support heart health education, research, and care to combat heart disease - the leading cause of death worldwide. We are proud to be
recognized as one of the top participating schools in Minnesota!
All K–4 students will take part in the Kids Heart Challenge Jump Event during their gym/music time on Friday, February 6th for 50 minutes. Students may also fundraise using cash or checks.
The American Heart Association is offering special incentives for online participation, including:
• $25 gift card for ANY teacher that gets 50% of their class registered online
• An additional $25 gift card for any classroom teacher that has 5 students complete Finn’s Mission.
• A hero cape for students who complete Finn’s Mission by learning Hands-Only CPR
In addition, we will celebrate our $200 Club! Students who raise $200 or more will be recognized on the bulletin board outside the gym and featured in the yearbook. If your family has been impacted by heart disease, students are invited to jump in honor or memory of a loved one.
